Big Budget Blockbusters— Netflix’s New Content Strategy [Love it!]

So, I love Netflix.

I have a couple posts on them already.

Even though they don’t seem like a tech company, they’re in the FAANG group. And have been around for more than 20 years now — which is pretty shocking in the tech world. A lot of tech companies barely make a couple year.

Even though I love watching Netflix shows, I am pretty busy with work and, I don’t get to watch a whole chunk of their content, but when they come out with something that catches my eyes, I watch or put it in “my list” for later.

The latest thing I’ve watched from them is the The Gray Man, an high octane action thriller starring Ryan Gosling and Chris Evans, directed by the Russo Brothers.

When I saw the trailer, I was very excited. Action thrillers are one of my favorite genre.

I watched it this past Friday and I loved it. It was surprisingly long, fast paced and had great performances across the board.

After watching the movie, it got me thinking about another big budget distributed by Netflix. A movie called Red Notice with The Rock, Gal Gadot, and Ryan Reynolds.

Also Ryan Reynolds in big sci fi action flick called The Adam Project, which I loved, even though it had some corny moments.

After watching all these movies, I noticed that Netflix is going bigger with their products. They’re going bigger with their American movies, much like the 80s era of movies.

Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Rocky, Die Hard, Blade Runner, The Terminator.

All hit movies from the 80s.

They’re investing in big budget blockbusters.

Even today. Disney took over movie theaters with all the Marvel movies.

Netflix is doing the same thing, but online.

Big budget movies with a ton of mass appeal. This is what they’re investing in. This is Netflix’s strategy — content, content, content.

And I love it.
