How Do You Live Spiritually?

So, my lovely Spanish teacher, Xochitl forced me to write this, so I will.

So, I got back from vacation in Santo Domingo and Miami. I had an amazing time on my trips. On my trips, I got to think a lot about my future.

For context, I’ve been learning Spanish all year (2023).

I’m inspired by the Hemingway book, The Sun Also Rises and Tim Ferris’ book, The Four Hour Workweek.

I wanna travel the world, Latin America. The most.

I’ve always travelled, but in high school is where I fostered a appetite for travel. I went to a college preparatory school in suburban America, and through my school I travelled a lot. And we did many volunteer projects like teaching ESL students English, helped with art projects, planting trees, etc.

I was able to travel to Iceland, South Africa, and Costa Rica. I went to Costa Rica in senior year, after learning Spanish at that same school for 3 years. In Costa Rica, my Spanish was so bad, that I didn’t speak, and needed my Argentinean teacher to help me translate.

More than 10 years later — I have a ton of vacation time, more money, more passion and drive, almost 100 Spanish lessons under my belt — and so, I got to travel to my first Latin American country in a while, Dominican Republic, by myself with no translator!!! It was one of the best experiences in my life, next to my trip in South Africa. It changed my perspective on the world. 1000%.

Now, I’m back home… thinking — what’s next?

How you do you give back to the world? El mundo? 🌎

Well, I’m still gonna travel next year and the year after next. All through Latin America.

As long as I have the ability to travel, I will.

But I would love to give back to my community here in America. Or abroad.

I was able to find find my purpose. And I feel so happy.

My purpose is to be healthy and free. Travel, learn different languages, and connect with different cultures and people. And live a life of creativity and financial success.

Then using what I’ve learned — I wanna give back to others, elevating they’re quality of life (pretty much the purpose of this blog).

My spiritual goal is to use my experience and knowledge from travel, education, and work. To help people less fortunate than I am all over the world.

One of favorite Youtubers used to go a Spanish church, which helped with him his Spanish skills. Now he’s a big Youtuber — helping others in various Latin American countries. There’s a couple in my city I wanna attend, if I get a chance.

There’s many volunteer opportunities. Some that help out immigrants or being a teacher to ESL students. I’m open to that. And I sent some resumes to non profits, waiting to here back.

Also, I’m keeping one eye out for the Peace Corps. Sounds like a lot of fun.

Since I like reading — I wanna open up my spiritualty. Like listening to more Eckhart Tolle audiobooks. His books point folks in the right direction.

Traveling and learning and meeting new people is fun, but giving value to people is the highest good of all. The last time I worked at a non profit and got paid $0, it was one of the best times in my career…

… If you would like to talk more about travel or career or self help or what volunteer things I do, you can tweet me @JAKLHC.

Have a good one!

Nos Vemos!
